Winston Churchill & Paul Maze


The following program was produced by the World Service to commemorate the centenary of Winston Churchill's birth.  Interviews from a variety of sources reveal Churchill's complex and fascinating nature.  Contributors include Anthony Eden, Lord Boothby, Lady Astor and the painter PAUL MAZE, Churchill's friend, who describes him as a "true artist".

DID YOU KNOW?
Paul Maze was born in Normandy in 1887. He served with both the British and French armies during World War I and met Winston Churchill in the trenches. They became life-long friends and Maze, a renowned artist, encouraged Churchill to develop his drawing and painting techniques.
